Beef cattle

We take a proactive, whole herd approach to dairy herd health that focuses on disease management and prevention, in order to maximise cow health, welfare and profitability.

We appreciate that every dairy farm is different, and as such create a tailored and bespoke level of veterinary intervention that best suits you and your herd.

We also provide a 24-hour farm service for any emergency calls.

It is important to ensure your bull is fully functioning and fit prior to the start of your service period to keep your calving block tight and prevent any unanticipated financial costs further down the line.

We can provide a full MOT health check, including semen examination and any other necessary tests for both existing and new bulls onto the farm, as well as pre-purchase examinations for any potential new stock.

Routine fertility work in the suckler herd is often undervalued, but can actually be invaluable.

We are happy to provide assistance at a variety of levels including: after calving checks to check the cow is clean and cycling, treatment of problem cows and pregnancy diagnosis.

We are also able to advise on a wide variety of synchronisation and breeding programmes, as well as heifer pelvis measurements.

We create individual herd health plans in order to meet the needs of your herd, contract requirements and Red Tractor standards.

We provide annual antibiotics reviews and advice tailored towards lowering your medicines usage and costs through proactive preventative herd health.

This in turn helps to optimise growth rates and improve fertility performance.

We also have plenty of experience with disease accreditation schemes including Johnes and BVDFree, and can help with any other infectious disease issues.

We pride ourselves on being proactive when it comes to youngstock management, as we realise the importance of getting the calves first few months right.

We can provide a variety of services, depending on your individual farm needs and what level of veterinary input you would like.

This can include: disbudding, castration, scoring, pneumonia and scour diagnostics, colostrum management and growth rates.

We provide a flexible and efficient TB Testing service and have  two vets and an experienced vet tech, who are supported by our colleagues from Avon Farm Vets.
